On Intuition

Lots senior management say they made big decisions without carefully logical analyzing. In contrast, they believe in so-called “instinct”, “intuition”, “foreboding” or “voices from heart”, or anything like those that they cannot describe with more details.

Then the question is “What on earth is intuition”?

The senses and emotions can help us to make decision, and they are basic factors to form intuition. The emotions can help us filter different choices; that is to say, this process is not realized by most of us, but it does exist.

What is more, the professional judgment can be simplified into certain kind of modes and rules. As a matter of fact, the real talented decisions often seem to need the ability of identifying the similarities with different matters. Those CEOs who got this ability can find the modes neglected by other people, so as to implement a perfect strategy.

But, sometimes we may be blinded by bias or other characters of human being. A common latent demerit of mankind is the attempt to find modes where they do not exist. As a result, self-examination and feedback-review is the key point of success. It should be included into a part of corporate culture.
